iOS 9 Supported – Compatible Devices

With the release of iOS 9 firmware , Apple has aimed to refine the iPad and iPhone experience and provide a fresh range of exciting enhancements and features to its users. But every time a new version of the iOS is released, the question that confuses many users is whether their Apple devices will be compatible to run the new firmware or not. The same question remains with iOS 9. So to make things clear for the users, here is the compiled list of all the supported devices that will be compatible with the iOS 9 update .

To give you a simple understanding as to the compatibility, if your iPad or iPhone is running either iOS 7 or iOS 8 currently, then it can run iOS 9 too with that hardware. Below given is the complete list of all the devices compatible with iOS 9.

The above give list of supported hardware is released by Apple directly and was also announced initially at the WWDC 2015 during the unveiling of iOS 9.

Please note that some of the new features introduced in iOS 9 will be available only on newer hardware. For instance, the some of the latest multi-tasking features will remain limited to the iPad Air 2 or newer, and the older iPad models or any of the iPhone models will not get those features, at least as of now. This is applied to many of the iOS 9 features, though most of them seem to be universal to all the Apple devices, like the performance and battery life should improve equally on every device which gets the iOS 9 update. If you are wondering why your device was not included in the above list, it is purely because older devices have performance limitations, while the newer devices come with better hardware resources and faster processors.
