Today we could have good news for jailbreakers. The last working public jailbreak we saw was for iOS 9.1 firmware and, since then, we have heard nothing from either of the main jailbreak teams, Taig or Pangu Team. We have heard from other developers, showing jailbreaks that they have built for later versions of the iOS but none of them have been released publicly and some of them were only for older 32 bit device. You can read more about those jailbreaks below. However, today the Mobile Security Conference [ MOSEC ]was held in Shanghai and, together with a group of South Korean jailbarekers by the name of PoC, the conference was co-hosted by none other than Pangu Jailbreak Team. After giving a presentation on internals for Pangu 9 jailbreak, the team announced one other piece of news – a working iOS 10 jailbreak.

As you can see from these photos, Cydia can be seen working on the latest release of iOS 10 beta 1 firmware and it is shown as coming on the list of Siri App Suggestions as a frequently used app. It also looks as if Cydia has been used quite a bit on the device already, long before the demo at MOSEC.

Also seen today was a live Tweet from PoC group, saying that, after finishing off their session with a demonstration about privacy problems in iOS 9.3.2, Pangu announced that they would be releasing an iOS 9.3.2 Jailbreak in the coming days. We can’t say if this is true or opt though because we don’t know how credible the source is.

One thing that Pangu has said, that ties in with what others have said, is that iOS 10 is not as easy to jailbreak as previous iOS versions. This is because of the extra security that Apple has put into iOS 10, possibly the “Rootless” system that was rumored before WWDC 2016. However, they have found vulnerabilities in iOS 10 beta 1 that are important and that haven’t yet been patched. Whether these vulnerabilities will be patched in future beta versions remains to be seen but for now, we have some hope that we will be able to achieve iOS 10 Jailbreak.
