Update : A recent video update shows that Apple has indeed solved the iPhone 6 bendgate issue on the iPhone 6s with thicker frame . The video below tests bending a iPhone 6s Rose Gold . Back in the year 2014, Apple started the sales of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in September. Just shortly after the release, many owners of the iPhone 6 Plus reported that their devices got bent just by placing them inside tight pockets of pants. Apple was quick enough to give a statement that the bends in iPhone 6 Plus devices were very rare. iPhone 6 is made out of a unibody enclosure and series 6000 anodised aluminium has been used along with titanium and stainless steel inserts for reinforcing the high-stress points.

It was found that the iPhone 6 Plus was bending at the pressure of 110 pounds. Unbox Therapy, a YouTuber based in Toronto, had posted a video too named as iPhone 6 Plus Bend Test which went viral with more than 65 million views. But the latest news suggests that the upcoming iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be much more stronger and there will not be any Bendgate issues in those devices.
The next-gen iPhones will be made with series 7000 aluminium, just like the Sport Edition of the Apple Watch. This will make the new iPhones 60% harder. For those who don’t have an idea about the strength of the material, series 7000 aluminium is also used in competition bicycles. Rumors are that Apple has apparently altered the material for making it durable and lighter while keeping the density one-third of stainless steel.

And it does look like the new material has fixed the issue. Unbox Therapy is back again with a new video today which shows an iPhone shell which the YouTuber claims to be the iPhone 6s shell. The video clearly shows that the bendgate area has been made thicker to avoid the bending issue again and the shell has become lighter.

It can be clearly seen in the video that the area around the volume rocker of the alleged iPhone 6s shell has increased in thickness at 1.90mm, while the iPhone 6 shell measures the same area as 1.14mm. The video also shows that the new iPhone 6s shell weights just 25 grams as compared to the 27 grams shell of the iPhone 6.
Apart from posting this video, Unbox Therapy has mentioned that the bend tests of the new iPhone 6s shell will soon be performed in a future video. iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are expected to be launched at an Apple event on September 9, along with the rumored launch of some other devices like the new Apple TV, new iPads, and maybe even the much awaited public version of iOS 9.
