Edge is a brand new jailbreak tweak that claims to give the iPhone a feature that is only found on the competition – the Samsung Galaxy S7. The feature ? The ability to bring up a new menu from anywhere in iOS with just a slide gesture.

That menu gives you access to :
- A list of your most recently used apps
- Custom lists of app shortcuts
- Custom lists of contact shortcuts
- Custom lists of task shortcuts
Like the standard App Switcher, the list of app shortcuts will show you your recently used apps in the order that they were used in. This list is customized by you, deciding which apps you want to show. You will see blank spaces with the words Add App – just tap on it to choose an app that is on your device to add to the list.
For the task shortcuts, you can customize the list by picking shortcuts to a range of different tasks such as starting a slo-mo video recording, opening up the app store, opening a new tab on Safari, even to the Compose New Message tab for text messaging. In the same way as the app shorts, adding a new task is as easy as tapping of a blank space and choosing the ones you want.
Lastly, to customize the Contact shortcuts, simply tap on Add Person ad choose your favorite contacts to display. Moving between each of these three page is a simple matter of swiping between them, all from the same easy to use interface.
When you have installed Edge, open up the app from your Home screen and you will see a cog. Or you can go to your Settings app and tap on the Preferences pane for Edge. Either of these will give you options for configuring the app to work, including :
- Enabling or disabling Edge
- Choose which pages should appear in the menu
- Configure an activation area for the Invoke gesture
- Hide or show empty placeholders in the Edge menu
- Enable or disable Multi-Colored Contact shortcuts
Tapping on the Edit button will allow you to choose the pages you want to see on the menu – simply drag the menu items from or to the Disabled and Enabled sections. To configure the Activation area, simply tap and drag the white rectangle in the configuration screen and use the sliders to position the rectangle and its height.
Edge is only available for jailbroken iOS 9 devices and can be purchased for $1.99 from the BigBoss repository. If you want to be kept up to date with the latest iOS and jailbreak news, Subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on Facebook and Twitter; we’ll send the updates straight to your inbox.
